{"id":62,"date":"2018-06-17T13:26:07","date_gmt":"2018-06-17T17:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/?p=62"},"modified":"2018-12-11T10:33:33","modified_gmt":"2018-12-11T15:33:33","slug":"its-been-a-while","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/2018\/06\/17\/its-been-a-while\/","title":{"rendered":"Its been a while"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I started in the wine business around 1971.\u00a0 Then in 1974, I joined IBM where I worked for 35 years.\u00a0 During that time, I still stay closed to wine.\u00a0 \u00a0I continued to read all about wines and taste wines from different countries.<\/p>\n<p>In 1996, I started working at a local wine shop as their person to help customers taste wines.\u00a0 I did that for 5 years and was able to increase my working knowledge of many domestic wines.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, I retired from IBM and started working at a local wine shop.\u00a0 I took over as their wine manager.\u00a0 I expanded my wine workings into almost every continent and type of wine.\u00a0 \u00a0 I ran daily wine tastings, plus I conducted monthly educational seminars on wine.<\/p>\n<p>During this time, I also ran Wine Dinners for about a 100 people.\u00a0 I would select the wine theme and then work closely with the caterer in coming up with the perfect pairing of wine and food.\u00a0 \u00a0 Some of the themes, I had were<\/p>\n<p><em>Champagne Night<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Around the World in 80 Wines<\/em><br \/>\n<em>CT and NY Wines<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Dont Wine for me Argentina<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I still spend a lot of time reading, researching and tasting various wines.\u00a0 One of my hobbies is to visit different wine shops.\u00a0 \u00a0I like to see their inventory,\u00a0 I want to see how they display their wines and also how the staff at the store can help with wines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I started in the wine business around 1971.\u00a0 Then in 1974, I joined IBM where I worked for 35 years.\u00a0 During that time, I still stay closed to wine.\u00a0 \u00a0I continued to read all about wines and taste wines from different countries.
