\u00a0As soon as your poured a little into the glass, the citrus and grapefruit exploded , filling your nose with so much freshness.\u00a0 \u00a0The taste\u00a0 was crisp, refreshing and dry, but not bone dry.\u00a0 This has been our summer Sauvignon Blanc.\u00a0 \u00a0Almost any Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region located in the most Northern tip of the\u00a0 Southern island of\u00a0 New Zealand have the same citrus grapefruit quality.\u00a0 Some just more pronounced than others.\u00a0 Marlborough, New\u00a0Zealand\u2019s largest winegrowing region, makes the best Sauvignon Blanc, due to the soils and enviable climate that create it.\u00a0 It\u2019s about diverse landscapes, from valleys of vines to sheltered waterways of the Marlborough Sounds.\u00a0 My rating is always a solid B<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>La Crema Chardonnay\u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/la-crema.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-600 size-thumbnail alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/la-crema-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/la-crema-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/la-crema-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0The Pinot Chardonnay grape is grown in almost every country in the world.\u00a0 It can produce the most exquisite French whites ( Montrachet, to name one) or produce simple table style non descriptive white wine.\u00a0 \u00a0American Chardonnays can always be classified as being Light, Medium or Full bodied.\u00a0 Along with little or full oak.\u00a0 Another style can be classified as <em>buttery.\u00a0 <\/em>\u00a0This is where La Crema comes in.\u00a0 \u00a0Full rich, good amount of body, lots of overtones of apricot, honey, peach and a creamy buttery feel.\u00a0 I rate this one a B-<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>French Chablis Premier or Grand Cru\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Chablis-Grand.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-625 size-thumbnail\" them)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Grand Cru Chablis\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/em>to share with just your partner<br \/>\n<em>Premier Cru Chablis\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/em>\u00a0 is\u00a0for when you have family<br \/>\n<em>Chablis\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/em>you open when friends come round<br \/>\n<em>Petite-Chablis\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/em> Is\u00a0for drinking with strangers<\/p>\n<p>Chablis is all about simplicity and purity.\u00a0 One region (Chablis),<br \/>\none grape (Pinot Chardonnay) and then the actual wine makers style in producing the wine.\u00a0 As with any wine, the actual soil, location, slope of the vineyard plays such an important role.\u00a0 The steeper and south facing slope will produce riper and higher quality grapes.\u00a0Once harvested, now the wine maker takes over and eventually determines the taste of their Chablis.\u00a0 Some are heavier in oak than others.\u00a0 \u00a0But one thing I have always noticed.\u00a0 \u00a0While French Chablis normally do have a good amount of oak, its the way the French present their oak.\u00a0 \u00a0So many California and other country Pinot Chardonnays have an oak that you are either going to love or hate.\u00a0 \u00a0French oak is subtle, a touch of a fresh green apple just picked from the tree.\u00a0 I have had many different French Chablis, from all the 4 categories described above.\u00a0 There is no question, that he Grand Cru Chablis is a wine you must try.\u00a0 Sometimes, the hardest thing to get out of your mind, is the 1970&#8217;s picture of inferior jug chablis wines.\u00a0 \u00a0These French Chablis need to be tasted.\u00a0 \u00a0All A++<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ferrari-Carano Fume Blanc\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Basically, a Fume Blanc\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/ferraro.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-777 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/ferraro.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/ferraro.jpg 225w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/ferraro-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/ferraro-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0is classified as a dry and smoky Sauvignon Blanc.\u00a0 That smokey flavor comes from the wine being aged in oak.\u00a0 \u00a0I still have not noticed any degree of smoke with a Fume Blanc.\u00a0 \u00a0Their wine is fully in body than most Sauvignon Blancs\u00a0 \u00a0Has the slight citrus overtones along with a lemon grass nose.\u00a0 \u00a0It has always been so very crisp, with a little mineral flavor that just makes this such a perfectly balanced wine.\u00a0 I gave this one a A-<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Palmer 2014 Chardonnay\u00a0<\/strong>North Fork, Long Island.\u00a0 I have never been a big fan of white wines from the North Fork of Long Island.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0112.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2048 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0112-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0112-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0112-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0112-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0112-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0112-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a> I&#8217;ve enjoyed their Cabernet Franc and some of their red blends.\u00a0 \u00a0I had this with dinner tonight and was totally surprised!\u00a0 \u00a0It had a bit of a buttery taste to it, very soft and lush.\u00a0 Lots of apricot, pear and honey going on, with some fresh green apple tartness to really balance this wine.\u00a0 \u00a0Low on acidity, a nice big round lingering aftertaste.\u00a0 \u00a0Again, very surprised for a Long Island, North Fork White.\u00a0 I gave this wine a B+<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2012 Di Meo Fiano Di Avellino\u00a0 <\/strong>From the Campania (Naples area) of Italy.\u00a0 \u00a0This DOCG wine is full bodied and a very soft white.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/offertaFileFile-88608.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2835 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/offertaFileFile-88608-84x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"84\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/offertaFileFile-88608-84x300.jpg 84w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/offertaFileFile-88608.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 84px) 100vw, 84px\" \/><\/a> Low on acidity, with tones of apricot and mineral flavors.\u00a0 \u00a0I just felt that this wine was not very interesting.\u00a0 Too big for a white without any standout qualities.\u00a0 The after taste was almost non existent.\u00a0 \u00a0First time every have the grape varietal\u00a0<em> Fiano.<br \/>\n<\/em>The variety has been grown in southern Italy for hundreds of years, and many researchers have suggested that this is one of Pliny the Elder&#8217;s\u00a0viti apiane\u00a0(although this is now widely contested). The first mention of Fiano comes in the 13th Century, and just prior to the\u00a0<a title=\"'Phylloxera' definition\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wine-searcher.com\/technical-wine-terms-o-p.lml#phylloxera\">phylloxera<\/a>\u00a0crisis.\u00a0 My rating C-<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2017 Nic Rager Chardonnay (Vin de France)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A very full bodied soft rich Chardonnay.\u00a0 \u00a0It had a nice golden color with fresh apple and pear aromas.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/nic-rager-chardonnay_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2851 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/nic-rager-chardonnay_1-128x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"128\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/nic-rager-chardonnay_1-128x300.jpg 128w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/nic-rager-chardonnay_1.jpg 255w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 128px) 100vw, 128px\" \/><\/a>There was a touch of oak, but done ins such a enjoyable fashion.\u00a0 I had this at room temperature, which is how I drink almost all of my Chardonnay.s\u00a0 it had a nice rich almost sweetness aftertaste.\u00a0 \u00a0It wasnt until we had the bottle, did I realize it was from France!\u00a0 (Hence the oak style I love).\u00a0 I gave this one a B+<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2015 Joel Gott Chardonnay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was a medium bodied Chardonnay.\u00a0 \u00a0Lots of buttery fullness and aftertaste.\u00a0 \u00a0Not a lot of floral activities, no pear,apple, etc\u00a0 \u00a0In fact, this was a Chardonnay that I probably would not have again.<a href=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0220.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3094 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_0220-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" Bianco<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was the first time I have ever tasted or even heard of a White Super Tuscan wine.\u00a0 Its a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 30% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% of Viognier.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/cletus.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3247 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/cletus-163x300.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"163\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/cletus-163x300.gif 163w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/cletus-768x1413.gif 768w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/cletus-556x1024.gif 556w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 163px) 100vw, 163px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0It had the body of a Chardonnay, the crispness and acidity of a Sauvignon Blanc and the fullness of a Viognier.\u00a0 This made for a really interesting and enjoyable wine.\u00a0 It had a pale straw color with a very fragrant nose.\u00a0 \u00a0Aromas of apricot, honey, pear seemed to be on the forefront<\/p>\n<p>I gave this wine a B rating<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2015 Gustave Lorentz Vin D&#8217;Alsace Pinot Blanc<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Had this the other night with some grilled chicken.\u00a0 Served it a room temperature.\u00a0 It pours a crystal clear white with lots of fruit and mineral aromas.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_1224.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3384 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_1224-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_1224-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_1224-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>The taste was on the light side, but it definitely hit all the senses in my mouth.\u00a0 \u00a0A good clean dry finish.\u00a0 Couple of days later I had it chilled and it was very refreshing.\u00a0 \u00a0I gave this wine a C+ rating<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2017 Benzinger Chardonnay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Chardonnay had vivid aromas of fresh fruit.\u00a0 \u00a0Pears, Green Apple, Melon and Kiwi fruit.\u00a0 Very low in acidity, this wine was relatively big for a Chardonnay and was soft, chewy, creamy and buttery!\u00a0 \u00a0 All the major traits I enjoy in California Chardonnays.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/rdilauro.com\/CarpeVino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/2019-11-16-19.21.31-scaled.jpg\"><img
